Bowens Island

Just minutes from Charleston and Folly Beach is a little semi-secret gem called Bowens Island.  It's a rather small spit of land with a few lovely homes and a rustic and weatherbeaten old seafood restaurant called, quite aptly, the Bowens Island Restaurant. As I live on James Island, just a couple of miles away from Bowens Island, driving out in my convertible Thurs - Saturday evenings has been a wonderful distraction from everything Covid-19. The restaurant has remained open for take-outs on weekends and you can enjoy some fabulous fried shrimp and hush puppies and a cold beer and sit out on their dock overlooking Kings Flat Creek that leads to the Stono River and eventually the Atlantic.  I took this picture on 4/18/2020, cold beer in hand, feeling quite fortunate to be out of my house and out to see this beautiful sunset. Make sure to ask me to see Bowens Island the next time I am showing you homes on James Island or Folly Beach. It's well-worth the trip! #charlestonrealestate #charlestonhomes #follybeach #bowensisland
